Numerical and Experimental Analysis of a Wire Medium Collimator for MRI

چکیده
This paper analyses the collimation behavior of a wire medium devoted to magnetic resonance imaging. In a first part, the point spread function of a doubly infinite wire medium is analyzed for the magnetic field with the help of the Array Scanning Method. In a second part, we present two methods to evaluate the field transmission by the wire medium, based on the measure of the magnetic field computed with the Method of Moments. Simulation results obtained with the Method of Moments are shown. This behavior is validated, in a third part, with experimental results obtained with Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) instrument at the University Hospital of Liège with a straight-wires collimator. Both simulation and experimental results confirm the ability of the wire medium to transfer EM fields in MRI operational conditions. Influence of an Inclusion on Multi-Pass Copper Shaped-Wire Drawing by 2D Finite Element Analysis
The size and length effects of an inclusion on multi-pass copper shaped-wire drawing were investigated. For this purpose, an experimental investigation on optimal die half-angle was conducted. Based on experimental data of optimal die half-angle, wire and inclusion deformations, drawing and hydrostatic stress of copper shaped-wires that contain an inclusion were calculated by two-dimensional fi...

By identifying the effect of any parameter such as distance, attenuation and scattering on the Line Spread Function (LSF), one can compensate the quantitative and qualitative destructive effect of such parameters by deconvolution method. Using a 99mTC line source, this study was performed on a single head ADAC SPECT system operating in planar mode. Variation of FWTM and FWHM and LSFs as a...

متن کاملCharacterization of low, medium and high energy collimators for common isotopes in nuclear medicine: A Monte Carlo study
Introduction:In an ideal parallel-hole collimator, thickness of septal material should be sufficient to stop more than 95% of incident photons. However, some photons pass the septa without interaction or experience scattering before they reach the detector. In this study, we determined different contribution of collimator responses consist of geometrical response, septal penetr...
